Meet: Trevonne

Trevonne tragically lost five friends in their teens to gun violence which are represented in the lights breaking through the clouds. His future was bleak and dark but the light is breaking through and God will carry him to a brighter day. This tender hearted young man saw himself in a new way that encouraged his determination to walk mindful of the blessings around him. He was on the verge of being homeless and was accepted into the Inspire program, a life skills training and mentoring program that provided a home and help with schooling. He struggled to accept and feel good about himself. The painting gave him a renewed confidence and he said, "If this is how you see me, it gave me hope. There's more out there". When the painting sells he will use the money to pay down his college debt.
